In daily life, stainless steel tableware abounds, all kinds of stainless steel pots, stainless steel tableware and knives and forks. So, are the austenitic stainless steel tableware we use every day safe and harmless?
Austenitic stainless steel refers to stainless steel with austenitic structure at normal temperature. Austenitic stainless steel is relatively healthy. Among the austenitic stainless steels, the common ones are SUS316, SUS304, SUS303, etc., and the common martensitic stainless steels are SUS440C, SUS410, etc.
Although we are not familiar with austenitic stainless steel, 304 stainless steel is common to us, so austenitic stainless steel has strong corrosion resistance and is not corroded by external air and residual chlorine in water, so it is a healthy stainless steel type.
Austenitic stainless steel is non-magnetic and has high toughness and plasticity, but its strength is low, and it is impossible to strengthen it through phase transformation, and can only be strengthened through cold working.
Austenitic 304 stainless steel has strong rust resistance and corrosion resistance, as well as plasticity and toughness, which is convenient for stamping. Its metal products have high temperature resistance and good processing performance, so they are widely used in industry, furniture decoration industry and food and medical industry.
🟡🟡Is austenitic stainless steel 06cr19ni10 food grade stainless steel?
Under normal circumstances, 304 stainless steel cannot be said to be food grade, only 304 stainless steel that has been specially processed is food grade.
1) The 304 produced and processed according to the executive standard GB9684-88 “Sanitary Standard for Stainless Steel Tableware Containers” is food-grade stainless steel.
2) 304 stainless steel is a common material in austenite stainless steel. The common marking methods in the market include 06Cr19Ni10 and SUS304, of which 06Cr19Ni10 generally represents the national standard production. Generally, it means ASTM standard production, while SUS 304 means Japanese standard production.
3) In general, austenite stainless steel (1Cr18Ni9Ti, 0Cr19Ni9, 1Cr18Ni9) should be used for various food storage containers and food processing machinery. And all kinds of tableware should choose martensite stainless steel (0Cr13, 1Cr13, 2Cr13, 3Cr13).
🟡🟡Which is better between austenitic stainless steel and 304?
From the perspective of the relationship between austenite stainless steel and 304, austenite stainless steel and 304 stainless steel are not comparable, because 304 stainless steel is a type of austenite stainless steel.
1) In daily life, we often call 304 stainless steel SUS304 or 06Cr19Ni10 or 18/8. All stainless steels starting with 3 are austenite stainless steels, so 304 stainless steel and austenite stainless steel are a father-son relationship and cannot be compared.
2) For the judgment standard of 304 stainless steel, the common judgment situation in the industry is that as long as the Ni content is greater than 8% and the Cr content is greater than 18%, it can be considered as 304 stainless steel.
3) 304 stainless steel is a kind of universal stainless steel, which is a kind of widely used steel. It has good corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low temperature strength and mechanical properties; good hot workability such as stamping and bending, and no heat treatment hardening (use temperature -196 °C ~ 800 °C).
