According to Indonesian media on December 16, 2022, Indonesia’s Minister of Investment and Maritime Affairs, Luhut Panjaitan, said that Indonesia is still studying whether to levy a tax on nickel exports, and does not intend to levy a tax immediately, because it may harm investors.
In a statement, he said that Indonesia still needs to carefully study this issue, and Indonesia has been looking for a “win-win” solution.
Luhut Panjaitan said that although the country did not want to drive away investors, it also wanted to maintain its competitiveness with other countries.
