The Chairman of LME Will Resign
LME refused to comment on the chairman’s resignation because of the regulatory review of the nickel market collapse in March.
Based on the news at 3:40 p.m. on January 5, 2023, Gay Huey Evans, chairman of the London Metal Exchange, will resign.
The exchange is still trying to cope with the impact of last year’s nickel market crisis.
The exchange said in a statement that Huey Evans would not seek re-election and would resign after the appointment of a new chairman, but did not give the reason for her resignation.
During the transition period, she will continue to support the Board of Directors and senior executives, after which she will become a senior adviser to the bulk commodity business of Hong Kong Exchanges&Clearing Ltd., the parent company of LME.
LME declined to comment on whether this was due to the regulatory review of the nickel market collapse in March.
