According to a report compiled by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) based on preliminary data released by the US Census Bureau, US steel imports in February were 1.888 million short tons (1.7128 million tons), a 22% decrease from the previous month.
Among them, the import volume of finished steel was 1.424 million short tons, an increase of 15% from the previous month.
In February, the United States still imported the most finished steel from South Korea, with 231,000 short tons, an increase of 75% month-on-month; imports of 77,000 short tons of finished steel from Turkey, a month-on-month decrease of 6%; imports of 76,000 short tons from Japan, an increase from the previous month 65%; imports of 65,000 short tons from Germany, an increase of 180% month-on-month; imports of 33,000 short tons from Brazil, a decrease of 20% month-on-month.
From January to February, US steel imports amounted to 4.31 million short tons, a year-on-year decrease of 7.5%. Among them, the import volume of finished steel was 2.662 million short tons, a year-on-year decrease of 11.1%.
